What is International Day of Yoga?

International Day of Yoga, or commonly referred to as International Day of Yoga or Yoga Day. An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 11 December 2014. An International Day of Yoga was declared by the United Nations with the support of 175 countries including Canada. Recognizing its universal appeal, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.

ICA Vancouver has launched a website to list all yoga events celebrating International Day of Yoga in Vancouver area.

Yoga Day Vancouver aims to raise awareness of the many benefits of practicing yoga. You should be able to find yoga classes for people of all ages and fitness levels, including those with little or no yoga experience, to join together with friends, family in celebration of a movement toward inner and outer peace.

What is International Day of Yoga?

The United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga.
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. Vaisakhi Parade 2017 in Surrey, BC

Vaisakhi Parade 2017 in Surrey is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2017. (Please visit this page again near April 22, 2017 for correct date & schedule).

The Parade begins at 9:00am at Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar, located at 12885-85 Avenue, and concludes there at approximately 5:30pm. In 2016, approximately 350,000 people attended this parade. People of all walks of society & community joins this parade. The parade procession takes approximately the whole day.
